Xavier's Light

My son Xavier passed away when he was just 20 years old. I wrote these words to capture his spirit, his life, and the love I’ll always carry for him — and now they’ve become a song. This will always be the most meaningful song I’ve ever created. It was my love for my son that inspired my first track, and it’s his memory that drives this entire project. If one person feels something from what I’ve made, then all the work, all the hours, all the heart I put into it will have been worth it.

I miss you every day, but your light still shines

You were perfect in this heart of mine

From the moment you were born, you were one of a kind

Now I'm holding on to memories I can't rewind

Yeah, the pain runs deep, but your love still guides

You were the pride of my life, my joy, my why

Gone too soon, but you still survive

In every story, every tear, every moment of my life

You came into this world already making things easy

Sleeping through the night, eating anything we feed you

A perfect little boy with a calm sweet soul

Didn't take long for you to start reaching your goals

Gifted classes, honors too, you were always ahead

German on your tongue, big dreams in your head

Soccer on the field, basketball on the court

Black belt in Taekwondo, yeah, you held down every sport

And the music, man, you had that spark

Guitar in your hands, you were finding your art

Not an expert, but you played with heart

Every little thing you touched set you apart

I miss you every day, but your light still shines

You were perfect in this heart of mine

From the moment you were born, you were one of a kind

Now I'm holding on to memories I can't rewind

Yeah, the pain runs deep, but your love still guides

You were the pride of my life, my joy, my why

Gone too soon, but you still survive

In every story, every tear, every moment of my life

Then we packed up the car like the Beverly Hillbillies

Left Miami behind, all your friends in the city

New kid in a town that didn't know your name

But you made it work fast, yeah, you adapted to the change

Punta Gorda felt rough in the start

But you found your people, opened up your heart

Navy JROTC, man, you made me proud

Standing tall with a purpose, standing out in a crowd

After school you said you wanted to serve

A noble dream, more courage than most deserve

Army Reserve, yeah, you found your lane

E3 Combat Medic, strength in your veins

You lived with honor, you lived with grace

You brought light to every single place

Twenty years young, but you lived so much

Gave love, gave laughter, gave a healing touch

I miss you every day, but your light still shines

You were perfect in this heart of mine

From the moment you were born, you were one of a kind

Now I'm holding on to memories I can't rewind

Yeah, the pain runs deep, but your love still guides

You were the pride of my life, my joy, my why

Gone too soon, but you still survive

In every story, every tear, every moment my life

You traveled the world, saw places most never see

Lived a life full of moments, full of memories

You loved your friends hard, loyal to the end

The kind of soul everybody wants as a friend

You had humor, heart, and a smile so true

You lifted people up just by being you

You loved a girl, felt that spark inside

You lived a life that made me beam with pride

And now I'm here trying to make sense of the pain

Trying to breathe through the storm, trying to stand in the rain

Losing you is a wound that will never fade

But your legacy lives in every life you changed

I carry your name, your spirit, your fire

Every day forward, every step higher

You were my pride, my joy, my son

And in my heart, you'll always be the one

I miss you every day, but your light still shines

You were perfect in this heart of mine

From the moment you were born, you were one of a kind

Now I'm holding on to memories I can't rewind

Yeah, the pain runs deep, but your love still guides

You were the pride of my life, my joy, my why

Gone too soon, but you still survive
